Week Five-Term One

Week Five - Term One

There were many positives from week five which has filled my cup as a teacher.  I was really proud of my class as there were only a few that didn't attend the 'Big Treat Day'.  It was great to see Mikayla C attend after not getting any warnings for the first five weeks of school.  She was very proud of herself and knew she had worked hard to be there.

I have seen an improvement in Hunter's behaviour since the beginning of the Term.  He now is completing work, speaking nicely to me and putting his hand up for extra responsibilities.  He was also proud that he got to attend the 'Big Treat Day'.  Hunter also had a proud moment when we had Michael here from Sport West Coast during the Ripper Game.  He got numerous tries and displayed some outstanding skills.

The class has now settled nicely into routine and are working hard in many areas.  I have the class site set up and running.  All students can now access from from here regardless of being at school or home.  I still need to work on cleaning up my site and plan to do a little bit each weekend.

Another positive is we worked on our individual Blogs.  It was great to finally do their Blogs as this didn't happen last year.  We will continue to make time on a Friday to write and post individual Blogs.

Start of Year

Week 1-2 Term One 2022 Room Two

It has been a great start to 2022 in Room 2!  My Year 8 students have just slotted into the role of being the 'Leaders' and have been great role models for the new Year 7 students.

I have found the beginning of this year slightly easier as I know the students well and the students know me and the expectations I have.  We have been concentrating on setting up routines, responsibilities, expectations for setting work out on our Chromebook and in our books.

Lots of ground work is being lay on the schools '3 R's", 'Class Treaty' and working as a 'Team'.  I am finding having our treaty displayed and signed by the students is helping when I am needing to remodel expectations to the students.  I can easily refer to these and the students have ownership as they helped to construct the treaty.

I am finding the 'Class Treaty' is helping with behaviour expectations.  This evident during class as students are settling to work quickly.  There has been some reminding about appropriate behaviour at break times.

The students for the most part are adapting to wear masks and coping with the room ventilation.  We do find it hard at times to understand one another but try to remember to speak clearly, slowly and slightly louder than we would without masks.

We are having frequent breaks so the students can pop outside for a run/walk while removing their masks.
